Our Volunteers: Moving the agenda forward
WIRED is truly a grassroots initiative
which believes in promoting the voice of those who have been affected
by substance use problems. Their skills, talents and enthusiasm are invaluable
for tackling the problems caused by substance misuse.
We greatly value our volunteers
- thank you to you all!
Please meet...
| Kevin
Manley |
 |
Kev experienced over ten years of addiction
to heroin and crack cocaine. In 2006 he became a Christian and entered
Livingstones rehab in Cardiff. He is now enjoying his recovery and
working with WIRED.
|
| Mark
Saunders |
 |
Mark has experienced both a speed
and heroin addiction, which left him homeless, isolated and in despair.
He has been on methadone for seven years which has helped him to
stabilise his life. He is now on a reduction plan. He works with
WIRED and other user support groups, using his experiences to help
others.

| Kerry
Manley |
 |
Kerry
is Kevin's mother and following his engagement in WIRED has also
joined us as a volunteer. She is an active member of WIRED who works
with us on a number of projects. As a family member she has experienced
the effects of substance use problems first hand. She believes that
we need to raise awareness of the issues and ways in which people
can recover, and the impact that addiction has on family members.

| Martine
Girault |
 |
Martine has recently joined WIRED and
is working on her personal story. Originating in the US, her professional
singing brought her to the UK where her addiction developed. Through
her faith in God and attending NA (Narcotics Anonymous), she has
now been drug free for seven years and is pursuing her music career.

on
methadone. He has worked as a user advocate in South Wales and writes
a newsletter 'The Heroin Herald' for substance users and practitioners.
During the last year he has completed a methadone withdrawal plan,
from 250 ml to zero. He is currently enjoying a creative writing
course, whilst he contemplates the next stage in his life.
